Bere CzellBrasov's first beer since 1893

A story born in Brasov and carried forward today.

Our story

The history of beer in Romania cannot be told without the Czell name. A family of entrepreneurs from Brasov, active across spirits, sugar, real estate, animal farms, brick factories and coal mines, they began building the brewery in Darste in 1892.

The first crate of Bere Czell left the brewery gates on October 15, 1893.

Decades of expansion followed, culminating in nationalisation in 1948.

After a break of more than 70 years, Bere Czell returned to the glasses of Brasov on February 22, 2022.

Rediscover the lost taste

Lorand Toth, a horticulture student and beer enthusiast, discovered a laboratory certificate in the archives containing the original Bere Czell recipe. He began testing, experimenting, adapting and refining until he recreated the lost taste of Bere Czell, known today under the symbolic name #TheLostTaste.
